This video, via Make Noise, explores some of the deeper behaviors and functionalities of their René step sequencer for Eurorack modular synthesizers.
René is described as ‘the world’s only Cartesian Sequencer for music synthesizers’. Named for the French philosopher & mathematician René Descartes, it uses his Cartesian coordinate system to unlock the analog step sequencer from the shackles of linearity. Instead of being locked into the traditional left-to-right series of steps, the René lets you control both ‘x’ and ‘y’ movement independently.
Here’s a full playlist of videos demonstrating the René:
The René sequencer is available now for US $500. See the Make Noise site for additional information.
I love this thing!!!! takes a bit of time to wrap your head around it but the journey is a lot of fun.
Well well well, lots of nice sequencers coming out these days!
Think I’ll settle with an RM1X for now!
