This video, via Voltage Control Lab, takes a look at building and triggering drum sounds inside the Roland Aira Modular FX Scooper module, using the Aira Customizer App.
They note:
Regardless of which Aira Modular effects module you are using, the same steps will apply. By routing a simple Envelope to both the pitch (or rate) of the LFO as well as the Amp, we can quickly create a classic synthesized drum sound. With a bit of tweaking, that sound becomes a recognizable Kick Drum or Tom tom.
See our earlier Roland AIRA Modular Effects posts for more details or the Roland site.
Hey Synthtopia. I just opened this article on my iPhone and the comment name and email was already populated: AY and **********@gmail.com. I refreshed and it was still there. I’m gonna make this comment with that info to see if it goes through. Also — good job fending off the bores, snobs, and jerks elsewhere.
AY – your phone is automatically filling in form fields in the page – it’s not anything that Synthtopia is doing.
The comment form fields are named, with titles like ’email’ and ‘author’. Your web browser is smart enough to recognize form fields that are named, and can automatically fill in the values that you’ve entered previously. You can turn this feature off an on, if you like.
FYI – I *****’d your email address. In my experience, sharing your email address directly on the web leads to it getting picked up and used by spammers.
Hope this helps!
Hey again Synthtopia. Responding using my own email and name (newly entered). Just for clarification: AY’s info was already in the name and email windows when I opened the page. I have no idea who that is or how their info got there. I’m using my iPhone. Nothing populates automatically like that for me here. If it did, it would use my info, not the info of the mysterious AY. Very odd. In any case, seems gone now.
ive experianced the same, someone elses name and email is already in fields. not a big deal, just pointing out that this happens. seen it 5-6 times. never my info, always someone elses
This is a caching bug with the site’s mobile theme. I’ve seen it as well, where someone else’s email and name prepopulated.
This type of hybrid module is very clever and sounds great, but the reason I got in to modular was to get away from anything virtual and in particular software (I still use software, VSTi, DAW etc, but sometimes I just want to get away from the mouse!)- I think if I wanted to wire up virtual modules I would just be on Reaktor 6….
I wonder if they will ever just make an ubber ‘blank’ module that can be any of the effects or a complete software programed rack with no predefined module?
No, no one would do that, because modular making companies profit from selling parts to make bigger things that work together.
We are headed that direction… Roland has more virtual modules on the way.
“I wonder if they will ever just make an ubber ‘blank’ module that can be any of the effects or a complete software programed rack with no predefined module?”
I have a feeling we’re going to see unrestrained efforts in this area.
someone is working on a eurorack adaptor for the axoloti, that would essentially be what your talking about :>
OWL modular is one step in that direction. http://hoxtonowl.com/news/
