Sunday Synth Jam: This video, via ollilaboratories, explores the sound of the Arturia Microbrute synthesizer.
Here’s what he has to say about the jam:
I am currently preparing a liveset with BURG, set to June 13th here in Kuala Lumpur.. and while playing, in somewhere around the third variation for the set i make a really dreamy and epic sound on the microbrute using the strymon timeline ICE algorithm.. and this melody (totally unrelated to the BURG liveset) pops out of my head.. so i grab my zoom q4, point it on the microbrute and start recording.
Sorry for the crappy video quality, low light.. close up, weird angle etc, but all my other cams were not setup so i had to take what i had nearby.
I sort of sense this melody has a twin out there.. but what the heck, its my ode 2 the microbrute. Lovely little synth, dont you agree?
Gear used, Microbrute SE + Strymon timeline (if you hear any hiss sounds, thats all the other stuff turned on but didnt use/mind shutting off)
Can I ask, the ICE algorithm on the Strymon Timeline, is it a mono delay?
It’s a stereo granular delay algorithm with pitch-shift. It can also reverse the delays, but it’s hard to tell if that’s being done here.
Very nice!
Love your work, mate.
These videos where musical instruments are represented as pop stars (and the musicians disappear), do not deal with music, but they are only consumerist fetishism. music is death.
Well, that depends. It;s not about what you have but what you are able to do with it.
Who pee’d in your porridge?
Seems like he’s putting the emphasis on the music, rather than on himself.
Incidentally, I bought 4 of BURG’s releases today on bandcamp, this track was in there too. After listening to them I’m totally buying all the others too, really great stuff.
Is there any way you can set up a dd and rev stomp box to get these sort of sounds?
