Projet Électro-Acrylique Combines Painting With Live Electronic Music Performance

Projet Électro-Acrylique is a live multimedia project, that combines painting & electronic music, conceived by Montreal artists Frédéric Laurier and Alec Stephani.

During a live performance by Projet Électro-Acrylique, Stephani paints and uses charcoal to draw abstract art on a canvas that has been prepared with multiple contact microphones behind it. This allows each stroke or brush to be recorded. Laurier then processes the sounds and transforms them part of his electronic soundscapes.

This video is taken from a live pictorial and sound art performance at the AIM Festival.
