Synthesist Daniel Davis shared this video, which is a live looping demo of the new Dave Smith Instruments OB-6 synthesizer.
The OB-6 is a new 6-voice synthesizer, with all-analog signal path and discrete VCOs and filters, developed as a collaboration between Dave Smith & Tom Oberheim.
Technical Details:
Live looping demonstration of the new OB6 analog synthesizer. Only used the OB6 and Pigtronix Infinity looper.

A) Love the synth
B) Love Daniel Davis
This video is awesome – thanks for posting it
Haha…thanks man. 🙂
Yeah, D. D., absolutely beautiful playing!
What a great demo! Thanks mate. Stunning composition.
looks like 2016 is when TONE comes back to the whole synth market 😀 What a great january so far
Anyone else notice the Alesis Ion on the floor? I love that synth!
Spotted it right away! One of my favorite synths, very underrated.
Nice demo for loopers. And for this fine new synth OB6. Really smart marketing moves by Dave Smith, capitalising on the Prophet architecture and giving us more vintage flavours. Yes, good times!
Really nice work!
Only 49 keys…. NO NO NO…not again!!!!!!!
Lovely sounds and looping skills! More please! 🙂
Ok, this actually impressed me… the other demos were lacking. Still doesn’t sound like an OB-8 (or multiple SEMs) to my ears, but sounds like Dave and Tom made a baby.
Stunning tones – I’m a guitarist who has become a synth aficionado in my later years (and I can’t play keys at all).
I need this synth, I just wish I could justify the purchase!
Gorgeous.
As filmed by JJ Abrahms! Who knew?
JJ uses a $300 Zoom camcorder as well? Awesome. 🙂
An elegant instrument skillfully played – exactly what a product demo should look like.
This is amazingly beautiful. Great work!
I should get a looper. 😀
Stunning!
I hope this also comes as a module (like the fantastic Prophet 6). A keyboard analog with 4 octaves might not fit all players.
The Prophet 6 module combined with an 88 weighted keaboard has the feel of the legendary Prophet T8 and combined with an X-Key 37 it’s a compact monster!
So I hope that Tom and Dave already started to order the hardware elements for the module version 😉
Yeah, can wait for module version. Save a few hundred dollars for Roli instead. 😀
4 octaves ruined de Prophet and the Ob !
