At the 2016 NAMM Show, we talked with synthesist Craig Padilla, above, about his custom Synthrotek MST Eurorack modular synthesizer.
Padilla is an ambient/space music composer with more than two dozen releases in his discography. He recently started working with a Eurorack system, created with the help of synth guru George Mattson. The system features modules from the Synthrotek MST line, a collaboration between Mattson and Synthrotek’s Steve Harmon.
In the video above, Padilla gives us an overview of his system and highlights some of the unique performance controllers that he uses, including pedals & the MST Expressor module and a custom ribbon controller.
Padilla was working over a 80-90 decibel din on the NAMM Show floor, so check out the video below for a preview of his work on his Synthrotek MST/Division 6 modular synth, recorded in a less challenging environment. The video captures one of his first improvisations with his new system:
You can find out more about the MST modules at the Synthrotek site and more about Padilla at his site.
