Here’s a sneak preview of the Remidi T8 – a MIDI controller that you wear on your hand as a glove, magnetically connected to a bracelet on your wrist which manages the settings.

The device is Bluetooth-enabled, connecting to MIDI-compatible music and video software.

midi-glove“The T8 gives complete motion freedom, works on every surface and allows to combine motion with music, in order to perform and approach with music in a whole new way and free the art of sound,” notes Remidi.”The wristband hosts the control center, while the glove hosts 8 pressure sensitive spots to trigger notes. They plug to each other through the magnetic connector on the back of the hand. The motion sensors opens to a wider expression of music: players can still alter the sound while a notes already started, simply by moving their hand or twisting their wrist. The encoder on the bracelet has the main function to browse through users’ note sets. Players just turn it to switch from a note set to another, from a C scale to a F scale, from a famous song riff to a set of samples in just one touch.”

A Kickstarter campaign is planned to produce the Remidi T8. See the company’s site for more info.

    1. yes..the idea of the control glove is very interesting but once more I really hope the “scale” fonction now found everywhere will not lead to a trend of lazy composing……..A composer don’t switch a button from minor to major to augmented to diminished to A to G every second…..

  1. Gestural control is an exciting avenue, but this thing seems clunky. Judging from the demo, it doesn’t pass the ‘yeah, but I can do that easier on a keyboard’ test.

  2. If only our regular ungloved hands had “complete motion freedom, worked on every surface, and allowed the combination of motion with music”. And the addition of “pressure sensitive spots” on our bare hands would let us do some awesome stuff with control surfaces and real-world instruments…

    Oh, wait…

  3. only 8 sensors..? a gimmicky waste of money –
these gloves can not be washed repeatedly ,does not stand up to real world use

    – and the elephant in the room – !!
lets hope your left handed 🙂 cause you can’t touch anything with your right hand

    …. just use a qunexus
