AZ-Labs has introduced Auto Slicer for Ableton Live – a slicing utility that makes Simpler cut your loop into equally sized slices from lengths of 1 bar to 1/32nd.
Key Features
- Have Simpler cut your loop into equally sized slices from lengths of 1 bar to 1/32nd
- Choose between manually triggering the Auto-Slice function or having the slices adjusted whenever you load a new sample or change the Start or End marker in Simpler
- All functions are MIDI- and Key-mappable
- Works great in combination with the Simpler-Tools “Slices to Notes” and “Slice Control” devices
Auto Slicer is available now for €9.00.

Looks like a fine tool to make sample chains for Rytm, Octatrack!
wonder why this was not implemented to begin with
but great tool thanks!!
Uhhh doesn’t Ableton do this natively already?
Nope! My understanding is Ableton detects transients when setting slice points, while other devices like the OT do it in fixed steps. Why there isn’t one app / device that does both kind of boggles the mind, but I guess now Ableton has the capability.
btw… this thing needs to be updated to support up to 1/64 beat slice points – the max slice grid of the OT.
Slice to MIDI is a very similar function.. Actually am I missing something because my initial thought was that slice to MIDI is capable of doing this exact same thing and more. You can choose to slice transients or un-warped beat divisions (and slicing presets)
