Music video for Femmepop’s Underground.
Underground was performed and produced by Femmepop (Margaret O’ Sullivan).
Lyrics
Verse 1
Electric Light under a London sky.
I sit and wait by the window.
My taxi will take me deep into the night,
deep into the shadows.
Chorus
It’s taking my me over,
that sound from the Underground.
I can’t escape this feeling,
I can’t escape that sound.
Verse 2
Neon Lights, painted faces all a glow,
As I walk by, hidden in my fur.
People pour onto the street,
tonight the city takes control.
Chorus
It’s taking my me over,
that sound from the Underground.
I can’t escape this feeling,
I can’t escape that sound. x 2
It’s the energy on your streets,
In the diversity that you seek x 2
Some really nice vintage synth textures in there, and Margaret seems to have one of those “I-make-men-melt” kind of voices.
While this song is nice I’m not sure what qualifies it for Synthtopia though – the video does little to satisfy or stimulate my lust for gear.
And yet gear was used…
Brilliant. She needs to be heard.
Love it. Refreshing to see a female artist in a very male dominated scene.
There are more male producers indeed, but I wouldn’t call the synthwave/outrun scene “very male dominated”.
Tazi, the Synth wave / Outrun scene is especially male dominated!! When do you ever see female Artists ever featured on their websites? Very very rarely. I think you are only fooling yourself when you say that the scene you mention is not male dominated!!
OMG Privilege check time!
Superbe mélodie et très jolie chanteuse ^^
Interesting….she sounds like what Madonna would sound if Madonna could actually carry a note. They have the same tonality with Margaret being a much better singer.
seems like a hybrid of the 80’s and 90’s ,no bad thing …mind you i use fl and watch Encounter tutorials so that goes against me ..i like it though
Reminded me of Propaganda’s second album 1234.
I was just listening to this: https://soundcloud.com/dj-flugv-l-og-geimskip and I find it way more interesting. Femmepop should do more stuff and concentrate on production aspect as well. Many details were left as is without any effort put into making it more interesting – like the drum track.
There are a lot of tracks released that include a synthesiser.
I am not sure why this one is so special?
You could say that about every song ever written. Why does any song get any attention!?
I think that synthtopia guy just wants to see peoples reactions by posting videos like that sometimes. It’s not the 1st time.
Ja, it’s a great song and video! Fair play to her. Wether you like or dislike is a personal choice.
