iZotope has announced VocalSynth – a new plugin for OS X & WIndows that specializes in voice synthesis and vocal effects.
VocalSynth offers four vocal engines – Vocoder, Polyvoice, Compuvox, and Talkbox – alongside specialized vocal effects and pitch correction.
Here’s the official video intro:
Key Features
- Four vocal engines: Get robotic vocals (Vocoder), organic harmonies (Polyvoice), glitchy digital speech (Compuvox), and singing synthesized sounds (Talkbox).
- Specialized vocal effects: Add edgy or tasteful distortion, filters, speaker convolution modeling, beat-repeating madness, and wide stereo delays.
- Pitch correction: Correct off-key notes in your vocals with real-time pitch correction with natural-sounding results.
- Streamlined voice generation: Add harmonies, octaves, or unisons in Auto mode, or get the exact harmony voicings you want.
- Presets: Quickly access classic sounds you’ve known and loved, plus distinctive new combinations of all four vocal engines.
Pricing and Availability
VocalSynth is available now, priced at US $149 through June 16, 2016 (normally $199).
i thought it was an ipad synth at first
that i in front usually means that
Me too. Very disappointed to find its a desktop synth at 149.
The ‘i’ in iZotope has been around since before the iPhone or iOS ever existed.
iZotope an audio software company that makes some very cool plug-in effects and audio tools – namely the Ozone mastering suite. This, however, seems pretty uninspiring. Not to mention that the GUI seems to borrow rather heavily from NI’s Razor…

That covers the vocoder. It’s just missing the 3 other parts, which is the really interesting thing here
Do yoouu belllliiieeeve in liiiife after this????
“Do you believe that I’m eighty-six?”.
Wonder if in real time it works as well as the demo.
Seems decent enough. Their stuff is good of course. Seems rather expensive for what it is though. Especially as most daws have a number of these features built in.
Looks cool! Can’t wait to try it out.
Vocoder is poorly intelligible.
Yawn this is just what i need in 2002, this should be $39
