Free Music Friday: Video game music label Pterodactyl Squad has released a free album of chiptune covers, Weezer – The Second 8-bit Album.
The free download features some top chiptune artists, covering Weezer songs on various video game sound chips.
The label released an earlier collection of 8-bit Weezer covers in 2008, Weezer – The 8-bit Album.
“It’s been seven years since the original, notes label head Joe Allen, “So we thought it was time for an update. Here’s our second tribute to those nerds in Weezer!”
The album features all sorts of songs, from the band’s biggest hits to obscure rarities, recreated using sound chips from old school video game consoles.
