Erica Synths has introduced two new modules in its Fusion series of vacuum tube based Eurorack modules, the Fusion VCO and Fusion Delay/Flanger/Vintage Ensemble.
The video above demos the two new modules, as part of Erica Synths Fusion Drone System – a tube-based Eurorack modular synth, designed for ‘raw, esoteric soundscapes’.
Here are the details on the two new modules:
The Fusion VCO fuses the tuning stability of a digital VCO with the warm, unique sound of vacuum tubes that work in a suboscillator circuit. Two double triodes in bistable latch connection act as suboscillators: -1 and -2 octaves, with plenty of mixing opportunities. An external audio signal can also replace the internal VCO.
Features:
- 3 basic waveforms (sine, triangle and pulse) with VC morphing, for example, triangle morphs from sawtooth to ramp
- 1V/oct tuning for 8 octaves
- Vacuum tube based suboscillators -1 and -2 oct
- Manual and CV controlled -1/-2 oct mixing
- Adjustable suboscillator waveshape
- Dry/Wet (VCO/suboscillators) mixing
- Passive Lowpass filter for extreme subbass sound
- Audio input
The Fusion VCO is priced at 425€ (ex. VAT). See the Erica Synths site for details.
The Erica Synths Fusion Delay/Flanger/Vintage Ensemble module is a distinct multifunctional analog effects module, that combines BBD chip-based effects with an adjustable tube overdrive in the delay output and feedback path, for extra thickness of sound.
For flexibility, the lowpass filtering is fully adjustable from none to extreme. The Vintage Stereo Ensemble effect creates a moving and thick spatial sound from a monaural tone generator, by mixing dry source with delayed and lowpass filtered out of phase signal.
Features:
- 2 BBD chips (1024 and 4096 stages)
- Delay and Flanger effects
- Vintage Ensemble Stereo effect
- Tube overdrive in the delay output and feedback path
- Dry/Wet mixing
- Passive Lowpass filter for extreme subbass sound
The Erica Synths Fusion Delay/Flanger/Vintage Ensemble module is priced at 375€ (ex. VAT). See the Erica Synths site for details.
Maybe this wil make Mika and Ilpo team up again….
This is totally excellent sounding, imo a much more exciting thing than that polysynth everyone is losing their s**t over. I’ll defiantly be checking out the BBD module….
delay could use a feedback loop.
Okay, I admit it I watched the video thinking it sounds great at the start ,so I can’t wait to see what happens when the tubes start to get hot and glow.I guess the standard Eurorack power supplies are not geared up to thermionic light emissions or some such thing though .Nevertheless Nice bit of kit.
No worries, they do glow! ????
If I’m not mistaken, these require a separate power supply from the other stuff in your eurorack.
just buy tube amps 😀 worth their weight in gold. combine with spring reverb. endless heaven I say.
All new Fusion line modules can be powered straight from +-12v rail.
Cool.
I did not know that.
I was hoping this “Erica Synths Fusion Drone System” was an actual system for sale as a package on their website. Bummer.
Still, sweet sounds!
It will be for sale in upcoming months. Stay tuned! ????
