This video, via Marcin Staniszewski, is a user review of the Expert Sleepers ES-8 USB audio interface for Eurorack modular synthesizers.
The ES-8 is a USB 2.0 class-compliant audio interface in a Eurorack module, with DC-coupled inputs and outputs that can be used for both CVs and audio. As such it is directly compatible with all popular computer-based CV generation software (e.g. Silent Way, Max/MSP, Reaktor, CV Toolkit, zMors, Audulus, etc.) as well as audio and CV processing iOS apps.
The ES-8 also has ADAT inputs & outputs. This could be used for example to expand the I/O count via an Expert Sleepers ES-3 and/or ES-6, or to connect a traditional audio interface to add, say, mic preamps or 1/4″ line outputs (for example with the Behringer ADA8200).
An expansion header allows connection of an Expert Sleepers ES-5, to which in turn you can connect our gate, CV and MIDI expanders. The ES-8 also a high quality internal clock, and it can optionally sync to the clock from the input ADAT signal.
If you’ve used the ES-8, leave a comment and share your thoughts on it!
Pricing and Availability
The Expert Sleepers ES-8 is available for US $550.
There was another CV / Gate / MIDI I-O box reported here recently at a very reasonable price.
What was that again ?

I bought one. It’s pretty great.

Let’s be very clear that the ES-8 is not a MIDI/CV converter. It’s an audio interface, that can be used for CVs too.
how is this relevant? es8 is a eurorack audio interface with dc coupled ins and outs
This is definitely on my wish list. The Expert Sleepers stuff is so cool.
Nice, but expensive! For the same price (or less) you could get an ES-3 AND a used audio interface with ADAT (like an 828mkII etc)
True. But look at the size of this thing
The ES-8 is lot more flexible and faster to use than ES-3. I have both, It might not be the cheapest module out there but it certainly is the best solution I came across.
I Wish ES would make a stand-alone utility box version of this.
An option for us who use desktop devices not Eurorack.
