Developer Cyrille Henry let us know that the new Nozoid OCS-2 synthesizer is now available.
The OCS-2 is a digital, semi-modular synthesizer that’s ‘dedicated to knob addicts’.
Features:
- 30 control knobs
- Few atypical waveforms with incredible fat sound
- LFO that can continuously change waveform
- A CV generator with different algorithms to generate random to rythmic modulation
- 4 audio effects
- A very powerful digital connection matrix
- A light sensor to control sound with hand gesture
- Software customization
- Very compact
Video Demo:
Synth Architecture:
- 2 VCOs providing 15 different waveforms
- 1 VCF : multi-mode, including a 24db/octave low pass resonant filter
- 1 VCA
- 1 ADSR
- 3 LFO : 2 with configurable waveform, 1 with CV frequency control
- 1 custom CV generator with 4 algorithms : Attack Release, dual LFO, Random, Step
- 1 audio effects processor with 4 effects : Distortion, Delay, Bitcrush, Waveshaper
- 1 ring modulator
- 1 CV controlled mixer for VCO1 and VCO2
- 2 octaves keyboard with portamento
- 1 digital matrix to connect signals to modulation faders
- 1 stereo line-IN with envelope follower and gate control
- 1 MIDI input : note / velocity / pitch bend / modulation wheel / control change
- 3 analogue CV IN and 1 GATE IN
- 1 light sensor
Pricing and Availability
The Nozoid OCS-2 is available now for 499.00€.
That’s pretty fascinating!! I like the flavors of noise it makes. The pushbutton matrix that doubles as a “keyboard” is quite clever. .
Knob addicts.
Really like the design architecture.especially the Eurorack compatibility, and external Audio ,CV,midi interfacing. It also seems very adaptable to a Synth DIYer.but importantly has a good standalone base configuration to begin with.
it could easily pass as an analog synth
Love it… just ordered mine 🙂
Sounds interesting. Btw Is there a Pulse Width somewhere that i don`t see?
I think that knob called SYM is “Symmetry” which gives you pulse width and morphs a triangle wave to upward and downward saws. The thing that it does to sines is shown later in the vid.
Digital, but only monophonic?
No step sequencer, although there is this nifty “keyboard”?
Polyphony?? If it’s more than 6 I’ll buy it.
Presumably targeted at “knob addicts” who’ve already mainlined every Volca within a hundred miles to feed the monkey on their back.
I wasn’t able to glean from the website or PDF manual if it had more than one voice. Searched “voice” “voices” “monophonic” “polyphon” and no results.
It has a single VCF, VCA, and ADSR.
That says single voice to me.
wooaa, sounds on website are really fat!
Sounds amazing, and great design! I assume it’s 500 euro because of those two 15 step mini-pots! 😉
