Sunday Synth Jam: Budapest-based DJ & blogger Simon Iddol shared a ‘four channels & a drum machine’ mix he created using a Roland DJ-808.
Here’s what Iddol has to say about the set:
“This is a spontaneous DJ set. Nothing planned in advance, it was played and recorded in one take to share my ‘four channels + a drum machine’ workflow on the Roland AIRA DJ-808 with Serato.
Unless you are not standing behind me in the DJ booth this is the best chance to learn/see/study the way I play.”
The video is filmed so that you can see how Iddol is working, both with both the DJ-808 and Serato.

In this Roland interview, Iddol shares some background on his approach to live remixing and how he works with the DJ-808:
It’s amazing that he never once touches the wheels of plastic!
Is it just me, or is scratching something that seems appropriative when white guys do it?
His approach is more remix-oriented, too, which is more interesting, at least to me.
It’s just you. If only white dudes were allowed to make electronic music after Kraftwerk or whatever came first we would be in a bad way, would we not?
Well done chap
