Sunday Synth Jam: This video captures Weather Report in 1978, jamming on keyboardist Joe Zawinul’s Birdland.
Zawinul’s ode to the classic New York Birdland jazz club starts with one of the most iconic synth riffs in jazz, features chops galore and combines improvisation with memorable melodies throughout.
The video quality is poor, but the playing is hot, and there are some great shots of Zawinul at his keyboard stack.
