Sunday Synth Jam: Synthesist Jason Job shared this live Eurorack modular performance, Snow in the Desert.
Here’s what he has to say about the technical details:
The semi-random walking string melody which is played by Rings was triggered by a semi-probabilistic gate pattern coming from the Varigate 8+ and the pitch sequencing came from the Voltage Block where the pitch sequence was being clocked ONLY when the gate pattern triggered. With the gates triggering different numbers of times per bar, and often having fewer steps than the pitch sequence, the result is a melody that rarely repeats, but works through the same notes just at different times.
Other notes:
Sequencing by Varigate 8+ and Voltage Block. Kick, Sub and HH from ER-301. Woodblock sound from Plonk. Melody by Rings. Breathy stab from Elements. Pads by E350 and Mangrove. Reverb is Space. Delay is El Capistan. Bit of saturation over the whole mix using Model 1. Recorded live 2-track into Ableton and did some light mastering with Ozone.
Very nice! Will check out the SoundCloud page.
