Olaf Giesbrecht of Audiowerkstatt let us know that the midi-restarter v2 is now available.
The audiowerkstatt midi-restarter v2 is designed to let you start or stop your MIDI-slave, independent of your MIDI-master, in perfect synchronization.
It has all the functions of the original audiowerkstatt midi-restarter, but now comes in a powder-coated steel case and stores its settings.
Pricing and Availability
The midi-restarter v2 is available now for 142,02 € (+VAT, where applicable).
…finally dustless….with case! 😉
Hi, what would be the practical use cases of such a device?

There is also a website link provided but I’ll post it for you too.

Thanks for you reply, Dani, but I had already read the information on that page. My question is more about the scenarios one would use this device in: is this aimed at performers doing sequencer “live acts”, is it aimed at concerts/theater shows to synchronize lightshows and music, etc.
Put differently, I’d like to know if this is aimed at a wilde audience (which I would find weird since I have never heard anyone requesting these features) or is it aimed at specific pro engineers or musicians.
hi.
interesting question. from feedback to the old version, i would say mostly pro musicians and some engeneers.
A. people who play live and have one of two problems:
1. a midi slave, that has to be stopped and restarted during liveact for some reasons (e.g. for changing the edit/play/record-mode or changing stuff like pattern length, which is not possible with every machine without stopping it).
2. a midi-slave, that sometimes has clock-problems and you want to get it back in sync.
B. jam-sessions with more musicians: a new member is joining the jam – he connects his staff, restart is pushed and he is part of the synced jam with no noticeable stop for the audience.
and the other stuff you mentioned (e.g. synchronize lightshows): yes – it is possible to use all the audiowerkstatt clock-tools in very different settings and i know, that there are customers out there, who do really stuff, that was not in my head, when the device was planned. but because those are simple stable tools, creative use is always possible 😉
best
