In this RBMA video, Tatsuya Takahashi takes a look at the classic Sequential Circuits Prophet 10 synthesizer.
The Prophet 10 is rare analog polysynth from the early 80s that was essentially two Prophet 5 synths in one. Three variants were made – including single-keyboard and dual-keyboard versions. While many consider the Prophet 10 v3 to be the best, each version is a monster.
I’m sure millions of people out there were dying to know how to initialise their Prophet 10…
Right?? They should be showing what kind of sounds this beast can really make. Instead they make a video that shows how to make the smallest and most basic sound it can deliver. Perplexing.
It is pretty weird. Here is Tatsuya Takahashi, modern synth god, making a video for all the newbies who just bought a Prophet 10? There’s a very nice jam at the end, though.
Lol
When I see a Prophet 10, I always think of Tony Banks in the Genesis Three Sides Live concert film.
Yep… Tony Banks will always be associated with the P10.
That fantastic keyboard backing riff in ‘No Reply’ was played on a P10 by having the same patch on both keyboards and then playing alternate chords with each hand (upper and lower).
So is this where Roland get their Upper & Lower patch settings from?
Uli, clone this! I’ll buy it!
