Building a tinker toy sequencer, here triggering a Tama Techstar drum synth. from synthesizers
This video, via Prezzle, demonstrates a one-of-a-kind Tinkertoy gate sequencer, triggering a vintage Tama Techstar drum synthesizer.
Tinkertoys were originally introduced in 1914, but this may be the first time in their 100+ year history that they’ve been used as the heart of a robotic drum machine. The construction kits are based around ‘spool’ connectors, with 8 perimeter holes spaced 45° apart – perfect for creating a mechanical 4-beat loop.
Time to buy some piezos and some tinker toys. Got the ol’ Drum Fire DF 500 over here ready to go.
