In his latest video, Espen Kraft takes a look at making a complete track using the Casio SK-1 sampling keyboard.
In making the track, Kraft samples a Roland Alpha Juno 2 and also chops up the SK-1’s beats in his DAW. The Casio SK-1, from 1985, samples at 8-bit. So this gives anything it samples a ‘grainy’, aliased quality.
Always amusing to watch ur vids 🙂
Great song!
lol i love it this can be a disco new wave smash hit no joke
Actually, this totally sounds like a Pet Shop Boys track… good job!
Sorta like Pet Shop Boys made a love child in a drunken threesome with Karl Bartos and Gazebo.
And i mean that only in the most positive, respectful, favourable way.
Groovy jam indeed
LOVE IT
Sounds like Pet Shop Boys! I totally dig it!! I still have my SK-1 from when I was a kid!
Cool video.
Funny, last week I also made something on this lovely lo-fi machine:

When you say the word “asparagus” into the SK-1 and play it back reversed, it says “cigarette.”
