At a special event at Perfect Circuit in Burbank, CA, Tony Rolando & Kelly Kelbel introduced the Make Noise QPAS.
The QPAS (Quad Peak Animation System) is a new Eurorack module that offers four identical state variable filter cores, which can used in many ways. In the video, Rolando tells the story of the origin of the module and then discusses different uses and patching ideas.
Pricing and Availability
The QPAS is available now for $379. See the Make Noise site for details.
Great stuff
Making Asheville proud
Make Noise has seemingly jumped the shark. Their most recent modules include a traditional ADSR-style envelope, a dual VCA that is not as interesting as the Optomix, updates of older modules like Rene, QMMG, and Phonogene, and now… an analog filter. I’m sure the fan boys will continue to buy their stuff but the company seems to be running out of new ideas. There are only so many Buchla and Serge circuits to copy, I guess.
