Belgian composer and maker artist Xavier Gazon let us know about CV Tape Player – a DIY Eurorack module that he created that lets a Walkman be played with CV-controllable speed.
Gazon says it’s good for textured sounds, lo-fi motorized sound explorations and glissando drum effects.
Video Demo:
Using circuit bending techniques and reverse engineering, Gazon modify the circuitry on the printed circuit board that drives the motor speed and added a potentiometer, modifications and jack to make it possible to change the speed manually or by CV. The panel was cut and engraved using a laser on plexiglass.
Here’s an early test, exploring using an LFO thru a Buchla CV processor to control the CV Tape Player:
Gazon plans to share updates on his Eurorack tape modules via his site and his Instagram page.
amen!!!!
Brilliant!!!!!
beatiful!!
Would be SUPER cool if it were bipolar and would play forward and backwards. 🙂
that is an awesome idea
Very cool
Lovely work. A version 2 that allowed selective engagement of recording as well as playback would be the ultimate analog delay line.
