In his latest video, synthesist Omri Cohen explores using the Arturia KeyStep with VCV Rack, the free software modular synthesizer.
Here’s what Cohen has to say about the video:
About 2 weeks ago I got the KeyStep from Arturia. I was looking for a relatively small keyboard that will replace my 88-keys midi keyboard, and after having so much fun with the BeatStep Pro, I knew that the KeyStep is the way to go. It works really nice with VCV Rack, and one can spend hours jamming with its sequencer and combining the keyboard play mode, which allows playing another line on top of the sequence on a different midi channel. It’s also very easy to use it as a “normal” Midi keyboard, even playing polyphonically with up to 16 voices.
I’ve made a video all about using it within VCV Rack, as a “normal” Midi keyboard, as a sequencer and arpeggiator, and I also utilize its chord mode.
