New Korg Nu:Tekt Synthesizer Like ‘A Monotron On Steroids’

At Superbooth 2019, Korg introduced the Nu:Tekt Synthesizer, an inexpensive DIY synthesizer that’s ‘like a Monotron on steroids’.

The Nu:Tekt Synthesizer is a DIY synth in the Korg Monotron form factor. But the Nu:Tekt offers much more power than its predecessor, by featuring Korg’s Multi-Engine technology.

The Multi-Engine was introduced with the Korg Prologue synthesizer, but is starting to reveal its potential as developers have introduced third-party oscillators for the platform, and as Korg has implemented the technology in new synths, like the Minilogue XD.

The Nu:Tekt synth introduces an entry-level option for users interested in the technology, and could turn the Multi-Engine into a huge platform for developers.

  1. I’m so excited for this. Sounds breathtaking, simple controls, programmable, midi in, layered effects, all for a target of $100? That’s amazing. Instant pre-order as soon as they’re open.

  2. This thing is great! I wish Korg would give us a updated Monotribe with a Nu:Tekt oscillator as a the main synth engine.

  3. The Monotron was a monosynth on heavy sedatives, so if you feed it steroids it might just become a real monosynth! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. The custom effects is what’s most interesting to me. Really hope they consider (and add!) a stereo input before the final version is released.

Bonus if they allow the ribbon control to adjust some additional effect parameters. Say, hold the effect button down and swipe left/right to adjust the high frequency roll-off of the delay or the swirl amount of a reverb or…

  5. It will be interesting to see how Korg push this in terms of what it can do. Korg are an interesting company. They are always doing quirky stuff every now and then ……I wonder if it could be turned into a drum synth …..it sounds very good doesn’t it.
