WMD let us know that their Crucible Cymbal and Plate Synthesizer Euro module is now available.
We talked with WMD’s Alex Anderson, aka Nasty Nachos, at Superbooth 2019, above, and he gave us an overview of what the drum synthesis module can do.
Crucible utilizes classic digital synthesis blocks like delay and digital filters as well as experimental meshes to fully synthesize a cymbal voice of your own design. The module is also designed to give you immediate, hands-on contr9l of the synthesis engine.
Here’s an in-depth look at the Crucible in action:

Wow. That is a fascinating sounding module.
I had been messing around with tones based on the subharmonic series– which generates those 808 kinds of cymbal sounds. This seems much more natural than that.
Been making my own cymbal sounds for years using radically pitch shifted reverbs and some other tricks but I really like the capabilities of this module. Good sonic stuff and good demo video.
