The Brooklyn Synth Expo returns next weekend, June 8-9. At the free, strictly “in-the-headphones” event at Brooklyn’s Lytehouse Studios, the new synthesizers launched earlier this month at Berlin’s Superbooth will be available for NYC-area synth enthusiasts to check out.

The synthesizer showcase and marketplace also features a heavy guitar pedal component through the embedded sister event the Brooklyn Stompbox Exhibit. The show offers musicians a unique opportunity to get new electronic gear at a discount through the participating vendors.


Workshop and Presentations about Synthesis, Eurorack and more. After last year’s record-breaking attendance of 2,500 musicians, this year Synth Expo organizers have added an educational component, consisting in a series of presentations and workshops in an adjacent meeting space, co-curated with electronic music news website Synthtopia.

The presentation and workshop schedule can be found here, and highlights include a performance by Lisa Bella Donna, a panel on MPE with experts from ROLI and Sensel, synthesis classes organized by Yamaha and 343labs, and a series of Eurorack workshops organized by STEM Modular.

More Eurorack Modules, Controllers and Virtual Synths. This year’s Synth Expo boasts over 80 vendors and more than 500 devices to try out, including a growing presence of Eurorack, controller and virtual synth-makers.

As usual, there will be plenty of special “deals” on synths and pedals, and the Synth Expo also offers the opportunity to sell and exchange synths through the presence of New Jersey synth store Three Wave Music.

The Brooklyn Synth Expo is at Lytehouse Studios and runs from noon – 7 pm on Saturday, June 8, and 11 am – 6 pm on Sunday, June 9. The event is free but requires attendees’ RSVP. Complete information can be found on the Brooklyn Synth Expo site.
