In this video, synthesist Omri Cohen takes a look at Midilar – a new modular Midi controller, designed to work with VCV Rack and other soft-synths and DAWs.
Cohen takes a look at using Midilar with VCV Rack, and also with Reaktor Blocks and Voltage Modular.
Midilar is a modular/customizable MIDI controller system, in Eurorack format. This gives you tangible controllers, in your Eurorack modular, that can be used to tweak settings on software modulars, making it easier to create a hybrid modular system.
See the Midilar site for more information.
I guess I don’t understand the advantage to this over a dedicated MIDI controller unless rack mounting it is that important. It’s not interacting with the hardware rack (not CV to MIDI) and doesn’t even get power from the Eurorack. It’s just going to use up what most people consider valuable HP.
I guess one can look at this as DYI MIDI controller with height and mounting points consistent with Eurorack standards. But even the knobs leave something to be desired when it comes to using it as a performance interface.
Epic fail on the mechanical engineering….Really? Exposed pots and traces? This doesn’t even pass a basic safety sniff test.
I’m guessing it’s something this guy wanted in his rack.I swear like 3 other company’s just came out with feature-rich cv to midi in eurorack. What happens if i touch those solder points with the end of a patch cable? Do i get a prize? Joking, I’m sure there are people out there that will find it useful.
