Synthesist Gil Assayas (GLASYS) shared this cover of the Ballad of the Wind Fish from The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
The arrangement features the vocal and guitar work of Maiah Wynne, and also features the Therevox ET-4 analog synth.
Here’s what he has to say about the video and technical details of the arrangement:
Link’s Awakening was the first Zelda game I ever played, I got it when I was 8 and it changed my life, largely because of the incredibly beautiful soundtrack.
When I heard that Nintendo was remaking the game for the Switch, the nostalgia poured over me and I knew I HAD to cover this tune.
Maiah Wynne is a musical force to be reckoned with and I think she did an incredible job with this. Not only did she sing and play beautifully but she even created a perfect Marin costume for the video!
We recorded the main tracks live and then overdubbed a few more layers which you can see in the small bubbles.
The synths I used are the Sequential Prophet XL, Prophet 6 and Therevox ET-4.
Pedals used are MWFX Judder, Chase Bliss Audio Thermae and Red Panda Lab Tensor.
Wow! Very nice! Love the Therevox…so much like an Ondes.
