Abhilash Patel shared this demo of his Arduino-based robotic flute player, and has documented his build online.
The DIY project covers designing and building a PVC flute, using servo motors to add robotic control, and the Arduino code to control it.
Time well spent.
This is brilliant. The blowing device actually moves to different positions for the high and low notes.
That’s true. That can’t have been easy to work out.
Though the result of these many hours of labor aren’t necessarily “stunning”, it is a successful working prototype and proof of concept. Seems like a baby step toward an honest to goodness flute playing robot.
I suspect, better sonic results might have been obtained using an actual flute. But perhaps that was out of budget. (?)
I have a flute to donate to the cause (vetting required)!
this better become a meme. i swear to god.
