ProjectSAM Cinematic Sampling has released The Free Orchestra – a gigabyte of free cinematic sounds, taken from ProjectSAM’s sound libraries.
The sound library ranges from orchestral string staccatos and brass clusters to symphonic percussion and ‘dystopian sound design’.
The Free Orchestra works with the free Kontakt Player, so it can be used without limitations by just about anyone with a Mac or Windows computer.
See the ProjectSAM site for details.
I resent the title of this article telling me to “Download A Free Orchestra Sound Library”.
I’ll do damn well as I please…..
Went through their download and installation procedure. They never gave me a serial number, so I couldn’t use it. Gave up and uninstalled it. Waste of time.
No issue for me @np. I created an account first and as soon as I added the library to my cart, it displayed a serial number on the following page along with options on how to download (they prefer you use their download software). Give it another try and don’t let technology slow you down.
I had the same issue, and sent them an e-mail. They got back to me within an hour. Because of he demand, some customers were;t given serial numbers automatically. They signed me one manually and everything worked fine.
Thanks, appreciated!
This is just a bunch of orchestral samples, not really many “instruments” in the library. Its mostly film score style spot sounds and cinematic drones. Replay value isnt terribly strong with this one.
Thanks for the honest review. I looked at it and wondered with the video sounds what it really was. I don’t need a gig of batman movie hooks. 🙂
Not untrue. However, I already have a useable orchestra library and many of the effects offered here are difficult to fake. So if you are into scoring or use dissonant orchestral sounds, there’s some useful content here. It is free, after all, so if you have the drive space, why not?
