Sound artist and developer Giorgio Sancristoforo (Berna, Gleetchlab) shared this video, Cosmic Rays Music, created with the prototype of his cosmic rays real-time score and sequencer software.
Here’s what he has to say about it:
“The software is connected to a muon particle detector that sends real-time data to the computer. The ADC values are converted to MIDI notes as well as fingering for my ancient greek kithara (??????). I will use this software and detector for my forthcoming ambient music performance ?????? (Cosmos).
The detector was engineered at the italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and uses a plastic scintillator with a silicon photomultiplier and a custom digital hardware driven by an Arduino2.”
This is very, very cool !
What the hell is this???
it’s called “experimental music” a form of “electro-acoustic music”. back in the day it’s what synths were all about.
IT’S SUPER COOL!
Oooh, very snazzy. Thanks for this.
Awesome! Excellent and unique work from Giorgio, once again.
Great idea.
I prefer gamma rays.
Giorgio is one of the most creative minds in electronic music, he’s consistently put out awesome stuff for years. Looking forward to trying this one out!
