Synthesist Heidi Chan (Bachelard) let us know about a new album, 3-Module Challenge Fundraising Compilation, that’s a new collection of music by Toronto-based modular synth artists, an educational tool for synthesists and a fundraiser.
Chan came up with the idea during lockdown as a way to engage the local modular community and to also give back to the community.
“I wanted to connect with my modular friends through a little spontaneous project, to push them to have a little fun with their modular,” notes Chan.
All proceeds from the sale of the album will be donated to Toronto-based, youth-led organization Black Women in Motion.
The album comes with a PDF of photos and descriptions of each 3-module patch used in the album.
“I hope this gives modular users an extra incentive to buy the album, so they can try out these patches themselves,” adds Chan. “I also hope that this might inspire other local communities to create their own compilation with little exercises or challenges like the 3-Module Challenge. It was fun for me to hear all these resulting pieces, and I think the artists had a good time making them as well.”
You can preview the album below, and it is available to purchase on Bandcamp.
Absolutely fantastic musician and person, and a great charity!
