Spitfire Audio has released LABS Pipe Organ, a free pipe organ virtual instrument.
Here’s what they have to say about it:
“Explore the versatile sound palette of a cinematic scoring staple — from ethereal to majestic beauty.
Recorded by Spitfire Audio’s Angus Roberts-Carey at his local church, this pipe organ has been developed in collaboration with the Pianobook community.
Choose from seven diverse presets, specially curated from a mix of stops and pads.”
It’s available now as a free download.
I’ve leaned into Spitfire’s Core orchestra and its very satisfying. The sample quality is 5-star. Everyone gets a dividend for the sessions, so it feeds the artists directly. Its a good way to add to their revenue stream as fellow players.
The LABS plugs are a mixed bag, with a few fringe oddballs, some narrow items that inspire you to upgrade and a few that stand alone quite well. Sprinkling them around Core & my synths is turning out to be hella fun. I love pipe organs and tricked-out Hammonds, so this is a win.
Spitfire sits in a nice zone between VSO and Soniccouture. Price-wise, too. They offer some film-soundtrack-level items, but the smaller ones are ideal for wannabe junior Zimmers.
