San Diego-based synth guru Synth Chaser shared this look into how he created mods for the Roland TR-808 drum machine for Claudio Passavanti of Dr. Mix.

Passavanti’s TR-808 came with some interesting mods, but also some problems – like controls that don’t work, lights that are burned out and hum on the output.

Here’s Passavanti’s intro to how he partnered with tech guru Clive Kavan to fix the 808’s problems and trick it out with Synth Chaser’s mods:
