Baby Audio has introduced TAIP, an AI-powered audio tape effect plugin, for macOS & Windows, that’s designed to bring ‘authentic analog heat’ to your tracks, without the need to route your audio outside the box.
Here’s what they have to say about it:
“Tape plugins are not a new concept. However, our emulation method is.
Instead of using traditional DSP, we’ve developed TAIP around an AI algorithm designed to decipher the invisible nuances of analog circuits.
The result is a truly faithful tape emulation that’s intuitive and creative in use – with some added features to accommodate a modern workflow. Use TAIP to bring a touch of warmth and glue to your tracks, or ‘drive it like you hate it’ as an alternative to your distortion plugins.”
Key Features:
- AI-powered algorithm, giving you the true warmth and behavior of analog tape
- Flexible feature set, allowing you to create a custom ‘tape flavor’ for any need
- Use TAIP to add musical saturation and glue to drums, instruments, vocals and beyond

Pricing and Availability:
Baby Audio TAIP is available now for $39 USD (normally $69).
Digital trying hard to be Analog.
All that drama just to archieve the behaviour, and often shortcomings, of analog systems!
Skeuomorphic Simulationism?
drum buss sounds nice
its going to learn about you, then eat you, then sale your data. Welcome to AI….?
There’s no AI in the plugin itself (and that would be too heavy for the user computer). They said an AI was used to process audio data and basically write the plugin algorithm. So you you should safe from this one 😉
Far from impressed. Especially the noise, what they were thinking? Never heard such a terrible ‘tape’ noise.
Tried it out. Not easy to find a satisfying setting. Needs an input level control.
I have only checked their NY Comp plugin and to be honest instant uninstall…
Oh dear, not very good.
