Synthesist Olivier Lebra shared his take on Pink Floyd’s Shine On Your Crazy Diamond Part 9, composed by Rick Wright in 1974 for the album Wish You Were Here.
Here’s what he shared about the technical details:
Master keyboard / piano: Dexibell VIVO S9
Synthesizer / white noise intro: Sequential OB-6 + Strymon NightSky reverberator
Strings: Waldorf Streichfett
Additional phaser synth: Yamaha reface CS + Source Audio Lunar Phaser + KORG NTS-1 reverb
Drums: Elektron Rytm
and a bunch of expression pedals
Very nice. Turn the synth up and drown it in a bit more reverb and echo. Great work.
Exactly!!!
Thank you guys, I’ll remix it — although I was happy to have it done in one live take (+piano track) without post processing. I think one of the tricks is to be sort of “loud and soft” to play like Rick Wright, soft doesn’t mean turned down.
