Sound designer Jexus WCOG shared this ‘shut up and play’ style, no talking demo of a collection of custom sounds for the Korg Modwave synthesizer.
The video is a preview of their collection of 200+ custom sounds for the Modwave. Here’s what they have to say about the Korg Modwave:
“It sounds like sh*t to your ears, if you come from the vintage / analogue synth background and expect it to sound vintage / analogue. But it sounds gorgeous, if you just take a step back and appreciate it for what it is – a modern digital synth with quality FX. It sounds even greater if it’s concealed in a track – then nobody cares how it compares to other synths, and nobody even knows it’s a Modwave (and I love it when synths have that elusive quality).”
Here’s what they have to say about the technical details of the video:
“I did not use any external FX in the demo; all the delays, reverbs, noises and other effects are part of the Modwave engine & mod matrix. I recorded my demo straight through an audio card. Also, you don’t need any custom wavetables or add-ons for my patches to work – just a standard Modwave / Native unit.”

Waiting for the hardware Modwave to go on sale for $350.
“It sounds even greater if it’s concealed in a track” – can’t say that about every synth… would you even want to? pass.
Yes, very strange wording if your trying to sell a synth sound set! , Modwave (VST) is one of the most interesting and dynamic VSTs I own.
Guys… have you read the entire write-up, or just the excerpt above?:)
Its still a matter of how deep you dig. If the three in this series came in shiny casings with less crapulent keybeds, they would have sold better. Inside, all of them are insanely powerful, especially at the price.
Jexus always gets down to the bone, so listen to his demo again, carefully. Not only is it impressive on its own, its also a superior starting point if you want to personalize it more. Its seems funny for people to complain about how their bar of gold reflects sunlight into their eyes. Get a kazoo, sheesh!
Sweetwater and B&H Photo both have the Modwave listed as discontinued
Anyone know if this is true?
wow, that was a quick run then. perhaps not as popular as the other 3bangers.
Are these patches compatible with modwave native?
I don’t know, I just don’t like the sounds on it/sound of it.
Demo’d the plugin but I simply didn’t like it.
