Universal Audio Announces Four Compact Effects Pedals

Universal Audio has introduced four new compact effects pedals to its UAFX lineup – the new Orion Tape Echo, 1176 Studio Compressor, Heavenly Plate Reverb and Evermore Studio Reverb single-footswitch stompboxes.

Orion Tape Echo – $219

The Orion gives guitarists the rich, three-dimensional effects of a thoroughly emulated vintage tape echo.

    1. Wow. Good catch. That seems almost inexcusable (except for the compressor). Granted for live gigs, not many people run through stereo rigs, but mono-only does seem like a weird choice since so many other boxes offer true stereo for such things.

      I find it quite odd that there aren’t more standalone devices that offer convolution reverb with user IRs. Poly FX Beebo is one, Logidy EPSi (discontinued) was another.

      I wonder if there aren’t enough end users who understand how powerful/flexible/useful this would be for SO many applications. Just for one example, you could combine a cab impulse and/or an acoustic body resonator AND a reverb into one IR.

      Companies like UA who have the R&D and manufacturing muscle should be able to get something like that out the door. But perhaps there’s a good reason why they don’t?
