personally, I dislike distortion unless it’s a guitar and tastefully done. otherwise; it’s just bad noise to be removed at all costs.
while taste is subjective of course, distortion can be much more than just noise, subtle added harmonics can help add fullness to a mix, or sound, and add excitement, body, depth, width etc. That being said, this effect seems very lacking. there are so many more fully featured distortion / lo fi effects out there now a days.
