Pioneering synthesist Jean-Michel Jarre shared this video of Versailles 400, a mixed-reality concert that was streamed live from the Hall of Mirrors on December 25th, 2023, to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Château de Versailles.
Jarre performs wearing a LYNX-R1 headset, combining live performance, augmented reality and virtual reality.
Quite a few Embodme Erae Touch MPE controllers on stage with him. I like that he continues to stay on the cutting edge of music tech, although there is so much more that can be done with the Erae Touch than he is taking advantage of in this performance.
A playback show with some graphic effects. Nothing special.
Is that the future – instead of real concert visits everyone sits in his home with a stupid goggle on his head and listens to a MIDI file playback?
skip first 5 minutes and last 5 minutes the rest in the middle of that was enjoyable.
I also recognize a Roland System 8 and a Korg Wavestate SE. Not sure he’s really playing them, one never knows with MIDI, although it looks on the Wavestate neither DIN MIDI or USB is plugged in . Maybe he only keeps using the System-8 for its visuals. What’s the synth or keyboard opposite the System-8?
