Korg Intros Portable handytraxx play Turntable

In addition to all the new synths that Korg introduced at the 2024 NAMM Show, they introduced the handytraxx play, a turntable that they say combines portability with essential DJ features.

The design is a collaboration with the late Toshihide Nakama, former Vestax president, and builds on the design of the Vestax Handy Trax.

  1. I’m torn on this as I’m a big Vestax and Korg fan. The FX and full size headshell are a nice addition, but the crossfader location is odd as some folks favor scratching right-handed. There’s a lot of wasted space on the left side of the device. Perhaps Korg will use the removable panel and make a general mixer module so you can have 2 handraxxs with a mixer in the center and FX on the right side of the setup.

    1. I’m guessing something like this is for people who DON’T already own the industry standard top-of-the-line market dominant product in this class.

    2. I own several handy Trax and Technics MK2 ,soundwise it is pretty closed. Not a toy
      you r the snob!
Handytrax preamp are way superior to Rellop spin and Numark PT scratch

  2. A turntable with built in speakers, gimmicky performance features and AAA-battery operation? Personally, I would stay well clear of this

  3. pretty cool that the design is a collaboration with Toshihide Nakama from Vestax. the og handytrax was really important for diggers to be able to take a little record player to a record store and listen for samples, the addition of the fader serves the current portable scratching culture, nice, i’ll have my eye on this.
