Pricing and Availability:
Icarus3 is available now for $159.43 USD
They must be lying since phase plant is already the most powerful synth available.
But great feature set nonetheless!
This is what I came here to say. Phase Plant is tops, for now at least. Good Lord what does the future hold…
I think that Falcon and MSoundFactory are even more powerful then Phase plant.
if phase plant aka face plant is the most powerful synth available, electronic music is in serious trouble lol
and what would you add to Phase plant that would make it more powerful?
Linux support – Lower cpu hit – More diverse modulators and last but not least Stand alone mode.
I think the only thing that counts as “power” in all that is more diverse modulators
The rest would be useful for some but not necessarily thing that are helping you make more creative sounds
I also forgot to say thats its main disadvantage is that its Swedish
Being Swedish is always an advantage!
62 different synthesis methods! Who knew there were that many, I can think of about 8!
I can’t judge Tone2’s more recent synths, but judging off claims they have made like this in the past, there isn’t that many synthesis methods. Its a serious reach for them to claim this.
Looks fantastic and hopefully sounds fantastic! I feel Tone2 are very underrated. Hope that changes soon!
There’s a bit of hype going on, in that oscillator and filter “types” are really just tweaked versions that can save you some time. However, although it has an EDM flavor, its no slouch. You get plenty for the price. Resynthesis, a drum seq & wavetable editing are impressive pluses. Its easy to imagine having this as a central instrument, much like Logic’s Sampler & Alchemy are for me. Tone2 has several worthy synths on offer.
They do over-hype with some pretty iffy claims in their marketing but, they do make great synths.
Looks like a fun instrument if you’re into those synthesizer kinds of tones.
😀
Great trance synths
The skeuomorphism is a negative. Given the complexity of the synth the UI is a mess, but an improvement on some of the other Tone2 UIs. When the design of a knob inhibits the ability to read the description of the knob then something is broken. Kilohearts UI / UX gets that right as does Pigments, Massive X and all the other flat UIs.
Tone2 seems to have created a bit of a problem for themselves, because they now have two synths that they say are each the most powerful synth available!
