Native Instruments launches Maschine 3

Native Instruments has introduced Maschine 3, a major update to its beatmaking and music production application.

Maschine 3 introduces stem separation, workflow enhancements, community requested features and a new Maschine Central library of sounds, rhythms, and presets.

While Maschine 3 is designed to work with Maschine hardware, they’ve also updated it so that it can be used to build tracks, from start to finish, without any additional hardware.

Here’s whats new in Maschine 3:

  • Stem Separation: Split any audio file into drums, bass, vocals, and other instruments.
  • Maschine Central: Machine Central includes over 100 kits, 144 Kontakt instruments, and synth presets from Monark, Massive, Prism, and more.
  • MIDI Editing tools: A suite of MIDI editing tools to split, join, erase and mute MIDI notes, keyboard shortcuts, audible MIDI note previews, and more.
  • Custom tempo upgrades: Set custom tempos per-scene.
  • Kontrol S-Series MK3 integration: Basic integration includes transport controls, integrated control over Play Assist, on-keyboard display of Maschine modules, and support for thousands of NKS partner instruments.
  • Additional software: Get Ozone 11 Elements, an easy-to-use set of mastering tools free with the Maschine 3 bundle, alongside Massive, Monark, and Reaktor Prism.
  • Bounce in place: Render sounds, patterns, and ideas as audio, saving CPU power and opening up new creative possibilities.
  • More file formats: Maschine can now import MP3, MP4, FLAC, and OGG files.

Pricing and Availability:

Maschine 3 is available now, starting at 29 USD. Additional bundle and upgrade options are also available.

  1. No new automation or modulation options?!

“Split, join, erase and mute MIDI notes” is this a joke?
This is a minor update with a bunch of presets and Ozone 11 slapped onto it.

I love my Maschine, but the software is ancient and all it needs are some workflow upgrades and extra options to be epic.

    This is just sad.

    1. You said it best. As a long time avid Maschine user I was really disappointed by this update. Automation/modulation is basically the only really addition many people (including myself) have requested. Maschine is still of the most amazing production tools on the market IMO and like you said all it needs are some small additions to make it the GOAT.

  2. after 11 years, this is the most dissapointing update in history. every one including N.I. knows exactly what was needed. some completely essential things.
But still talking about this after this update is a waste of energy. it s a pity we all betted on the wrong horse. they left us behind. and they know it. maschine 3 the worst unfinished halfbaked daw ever. every other 1994 daw is more complete. greedy business men like apple and zuckerberg are clearly running the show there duh we were naive to expect anything better. as simple as that would have been implemented. r.i.p. N.I.

  3. So why did you leave Maschine 2 out of this update? The few overdue features in this upgrade could easily work with the original Maschine or even Maschine 1. Here’s the irony: you built Maschine by copying the MPC workflow, and for a while, it dominated. But then Akai stepped up – the MPC One standalone is cheaper than Maschine Plus, and MPC Beats is a free, full DAW. Meanwhile, Maschine’s software is still not a complete DAW, and users are paying for it?! Not sure much longer can Maschine fans take this, when they realize MPC is the OG thing NI copied over like Behringer does with the difference that at least Behringer brings out a complete and cheap product while NI nickel and dime you in every corner with inKomplete stuff.

  4. Have supported NI for many years but obsoleting their early hardware such as older Maschine versions and S series keyboards seems to be more about the state of their codebase than any particular issue with the products. I’d be interested to know what they think is a reasonable shelf life for an 88 key controller keyboard to work as intended.

  5. lmao NI is truly so cooked. really disappointing fall for a once brilliant company. i guess some kind of update is better than nothing but this kind of barely hits “too little too late”

  6. I’m okay with the update and the new features- I’ve been using Maschine since 1.0 and have always found it to be a near perfect beatmaking environment.

  7. yeah. im leaving maschine. they aren’t serious. These features should have been added as the last piece to the 2.x software.

also, I have realized how good abletons “capture midi” workflow is and i cant look back. Leaving the NI ecosystem.

i still cant believe they are proud of adding the ability to edit notes with a mouse as a banner feature. They must only have like 1 person working on software…… how can a big company move so slow (and behind?) …
