Synthesizers.com Intros Three New MU Format Synth Modules

Moog format synth maker Synthesizers.com has introduced three new modules, including two VCOs and a module designed to make it easy to integrate send effects into your patches.

The Q206 (below) and Q206A VCO modules are both single-space version of the company’s original Q106 Voltage Controlled Oscillator.

With a total range of .05hz to 20kHz+, the modules can be used both as an audio oscillator and a full-featured LFO.

The frequency (pitch) of the oscillator can controlled manually, by voltages from other modules, and by voltages from controllers such as keyboards. Both linear and standard 1-volt-per-octave exponential voltage inputs are provided.

The Q206A offers a different set of features in the output section than the Q206. Where the Q206 has individual outputs for each of 5 waveshapes, the Q206A has a rotary switch that lets you select the waveform form, positive and inverted versions of the output, and attenuation of the output signal.

The Q201 FXLP (Effects Loop) provides an easy way to integrate external effects into MU patches.

Synth level signals can be very large (reaching up to 10V peak to peak or even higher). These signals may be too large for some external effect circuits, leading to overdriven inputs.  So the Q201 offers adjustable attenuation of the input signals via its SEND outputs. After the signals pass through external effects or stomp boxes, they may need to be amplified back up to blend with synth level signals. The RETURN section provides this adjustable amplification.

The RETURN section also offers a polarity switch in case the signal polarity has been reversed within the effects chain.

Affected signals are then blended with the dry signal in the BLEND section. The dry/wet blend is CV controllable.

Switching jacks in the INPUT and RETURN section allow the Q201 to be used in mono, mono to stereo, or full stereo mode.

The Q201 can also be used as a CV-controllable stereo mixer and output module.
