Switchtrix Electronics shared this preview of their Synthe A100, a new EMS-styled synthesizer.
The Synthe A100 is not a direct knockoff or clone, but is an original synth that leans hard into the EMS design language.
Switchtrix Electronics Synthe A100 Demo Video:
Switchtrix says that the Synthe A100 is a hybrid of the Synthi A and Synthi 100, in an Explorer hard case with a 32 x 32 analog switch matrix.
Details are still to come at the Switchtrix site.
where’s the knife switch and jacobs ladder?
In my secret synth lair. BWA HA HA HA!
oh man, five cent tour please! :0)
Looking at the prices of the other models in the series I wonder how sales will go when Behringer release their much awaited VCS3 clone at a fraction (10%?) of the price of the Switchtrix version. Personally, I would rather have 3 Behringer VCS3s than a single Switchtrix model – much more versatile all other things considered.
Good luck getting a hold of even one BCS3 when and if they drop. And if they do, at least the first 3 runs will be sold out before they ever hit the shelf. So it could be years.
They’re hand-built to order, with the option for custom mods and old-new stock parts. I don’t think their clientele are buying from Behringer.
It looks like a fantastic bit of kit and will no doubt be out of my reach, but that demo is terrible – seriously I’ve heard better sounds from a £20 Atari punk console if you like that kind of randomness.
Same thought. Buy a bunch of CMOS ICs and a breadboard and go to town. I was lucky enough to hear an A in person and this demo is not it. I`m sure it will sound great in an artist’s hands though.
To put it bluntly – this (and plenty of other high-end, hand-built stuff) isn’t for the “but Behringerrrrr!!!” crowd, in the same way that Ferrari isn’t concerned about Corvettes. If you have the means to afford a $5K synth (and many do), you’re not really that concerned about value in the same way. And there are some who really appreciate nicely made things using top-flight components, etc. Not saying you shouldn’t buy B thing, it’s just a different product for a different market.
Its nice but one of the things that make the originals sound so good were the saw wave outputs from the oscillators and maybe I’m wrong but I don’t see saw waves on this ?
