iOS Getting New Ambient Music Feature

Apple is bringing a new ambient music feature to iOS with the upcoming version 18.4 of iOS, now in beta.

The Ambient Music feature in iOS 18.4 adds new controls to Control Center, which gives you quick access to playlists of ambient music that are curated for different moods or task.

By default, it gives you quick access to ambient music in the categories of Sleep, Chill, Productivity, and Wellbeing. It’s customizable, though, so you can customize the the interface to give you instant access to any music in Apple Music.

The video below feature a quick overview of the new features in the first section of the video:

Note: These are beta features that are expected to be part of iOS 18.4, which is expected to be released in April 2025.

  1. AI music curated for all your needs:

    Ambient music to finish a spreadsheet on time
    Ambient music to make the customers 12% more likely to spend up to 17% more
    Ambient music to recentre yourself after a long day working and help you decide which delivery service to use (bonus ambient music to listen to while you wait an hour for cold burgers to be delivered)
    Ambient music to help you decide which streaming service to spend an hour scrolling through to find something to watch before giving up and watching Gilmore Girls for the 1,000th time
    Ambient music to wake up to and banish those thoughts of “oh my god is this really what my life has become?” so you can start your day right (working)

    1. No, you can’t. I actually work for Apple, that’s not how this works. Watch a video, believe what you like? Apple is under no law to tell you the truth about ‘terms of service.’ Party on, ‘Dude’.

      1. antiDude- c’mon man, you can lie better than that. 57 seconds in is where old mate shows us how to switch the AI music widget to play a user’s playlist from Apple Music.

        No need to prove where you claim to work, we’ll let that slide if you believe I’m an astronaut replying from the international space station.

  2. Hot take, ambient music is mostly already written by computers. Also, entering 4-6 notes and letting it cycle isn’t ‘writing music’, it’s like pushing a rock off a cliff and seeing what happens.

  3. when did apple software become such a joke?
    we still cant send more than a single stereo stream via idam from iPad to Mac;
    instead they give us this crap here.

    1. Apple started to stink when they dropped skeuomorphism and decided to copy microsoft, then google, then anyone else but what folks liked about themselves. Jobs was Apple. it was better when it was simple.
