Developer and electro producer Erik Griffioen, aka Lloyd Stellar, let us know about his latest project, a free, production-ready, browser-based TR-808 Drum Machine.
Lloyd’s Online TR-808 Drum Machine is completely browser based, and lets anyone create, edit and play 808 beats. Once you’ve created a beat that you like, you can export it as a wav file to use in your DAW or hardware sampler.
Here’s a short example of a loop created with it:
Audio PlayerFeatures:
- A 16-step sequencer for classic drum patterns (expandable to 32 and 64 steps)
- Multiple drum variations with authentic 808 sounds
- Adjustable tempo with swing
- Saturation and volume controls
- Easy saving, loading, and sharing of patterns
- High-quality 24-bit WAV recording and MIDI export
- Works best on desktop computers and laptops, but also on mobile devices with larger screens
It’s available now at the Lloyd Stellar site.
If you give it a try, let us know what you think of it!
Give this man a beer.
https://io808.com/ is much better
The track switching knob doesn’t work in my browser. And I’d rather be able to view all the steps across all tracks at once.
Very nice. I may just be tired, or missing something obvious, but I think the swing is syncopating backwards just now, in my browser anyway. As in, short-long rather than long-short.
Heeey, thanks MrMidi! I was trying to figure out why the swing sounded a bit weird. But your comment helped me fix the mistake i made. I just pushed the update to the production 808, now i think it sounds like it was supposed to.
Thanks! Bookmarked. Are there many other good in-browser sound generators?
There was a similar video game noise generator I liked about 15 years ago, but can’t remember its name. *facepalm *
You’re probably thinking of SFXR
There are numerous web page versions, and Android (I don’t use mac/ios so I don’t know about those platforms)
